Heat Treatment (HT) control has a key role between the different tools in the company’s portfolio. Dimac has been investing a lot during these years in this product, reaching nowadays outstanding performances in terms of sorting rate and inspection accuracy. 
 
Partnering the most important NDT device manufacturers for the inspection of the material quality and the testing of the heat treatment, Dimac has developed an upgraded release of the high-speed eddy current stations already assembled on the range of machines, specifically designed for versatility in production lines.
 
 
Heat Treatment Technology. Special Research: USA
 
Many of Dimac’s worldwide customers have required a high-performing system which combines a complete dimensional inspection capability as well as a high-speed heat treatment control, this latter especially conceived for their cold formed production, including barrel nuts, collar, capped weld nuts, body mounts, lower control arm nuts and torsion bars.
 
This successful application of NDT technology has been spurred by the excellent results reached by the HT control implementation on the Dimac rotary table-based machines as MCV1, MCV3 and MCV4. 
 
Its principle of operation is based on a state-of-the-art cylindrical probe positioned and set over the head part, or with a fork-coil probe where the shanks of the screws are passing through.
 
The innovative system provides instant results, without influencing the test part and saving up to 80% of destructive analysis costs.
The procedure to validate the new high-speed HT control equipment is very intuitive and the tool can be adjusted in less than 5 minutes.
 
Dimac experts have also focused on the MCV2 slant V-Track series.
 
The latest Dimac MCVx vision software matched with the advanced heat treatment technology, providing an accurately ultra-precise dimensional inspection of cylindrical parts. 
 
The new device drastically reduces time and costs of the whole manufacturing process by making more efficient the operators’ tasks and expediting the quality management job.
 
Customers who have tried this new technology testify that the heat treatment control fully meets the strict requirements of high-strength fasteners.
 
How does it work….. 
 
An encircling-coil probe is positioned along the machine V-Track and the user only has to register OK and NOK masters by passing them on the V- Glass.
 
The NOK samples are divided into hardness classes for a precise setting of the detection device that makes a comparison with the OK parts to fix the NOK threshold signal.
 
 
The eddy current device makes a scan of the part, using up to 24 frequency ranges to detect each minimum variation onto the material structure.
 
This technology matched to the latest Dimac’s vision software can prevent the premature fastener rusting. This can be a core function in safety critical parts such as the drive train or the brake system, or generally where the fasteners are subject to constant vibration or weather exposure.
Also, the user-experience script has been enhanced by the HT tool supported by the intuitive multi-frequency testing release, leading even the unskilled user to recognize and sort out any unexpected deviation.
 
Suppliers’ Partnership….
 
The extremely positive results motivate Dimac’s team to exceed US market expectations, by keeping on partnering up the most important suppliers.
 
Dimac is getting innovative new projects with some of them going for the next future, concerning the HT control equipping other models of the range as the latest generation of MCV5 and MCV3.
 
A prototype of the glass rotary table-based model MCV5 has been exhibited at the FF Stuttgart 2019, upgraded with a new eddy current station for heat treatment to sorting automotive cams in hardness classes.
 
MCV3 series too, based on oversized indexed rotary table, has been equipped with more and more sophisticated and performing high-speed eddy current stations for cracks and heat treatment control, coupled with high-resolution digital cameras for 360° all around optical inspection.
