fischer increases its production in the USA by 40 per cent

Automotive supplier focuses on US as one of the major production sites.

The vehicle component supplier fischer automotive systems has significantly increased its manufacturing capacity in the US. The motivation was the good business situation at the Auburn Hills/Michigan location. By acquiring buildings and carrying out comprehensive remodelling, the manufacturer of vehicle interior components has increased its floors space by 40 per cent.
The good business position of fischer automotive systems has enabled the company to expand its Auburn Hills location. The automotive suppliers kinematic components are been used in many different vehicles, ranging from SUVs to electric cars. An additional large-scale contract not only enabled the Michigan site to expand the facility but also contributed to a building technology upgrade and an improved logistics structure.

‘Our US location is very important to us and this expansion allows us to strengthen this subsidiary and be well prepared for future marked requirements’, says Johannes Konrad, Speaker of the Board of Directors for fischer automotive systems. Starting this October almost 7,000 sets will be produced daily. These contain heated and cooled cupholders as well as kinematic cupholders and storage compartments in all shapes and sizes. This would be equivalent to a 100 per cent increase in manufacturing capacity.

The production, logistics and administrative departments now have a total floor space of approximately 9,600 square metres available. Up until recently the available floor space was 5,600 square metres. The expansion was made possible by acquiring the two neighbouring buildings that had already been occupied by fischer automotive systems and which have now been connected to one large building. Remodelling began in late 2017.
